ASK THE PEDALIST: Can strength training help with weight loss, and if so, how does it work?

strength training help with weight loss

Hi Pedalist, can strength training help with weight loss, and if so, how does it work?

– Fat Gym Guy

Dear Fat Gym Guy,

Yes, strength training can help you lose weight. As you lift weights, the muscle fibers break down. When you rest, your body rebuilds these muscle fibers stronger and thicker. Muscle building take a long time, during which the body uses the energy from the foods you consume for this repair and rebuild. The energy the body uses to rebuild muscles is what helps you lose weight. So even if you are not actively working out, the body continues to consume energy. So a proper balanced diet is crucial for optimal muscle building and weight loss. A scheduled training plan is also recommended for overall strength building and weight loss.

Wishing you the best in your strength training!
